Automic Group is expanding our CFO Advisory practice, and we’re looking for an Accountant who thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. You’ll support a portfolio of clients across the full accounting lifecycle — delivering accurate, timely, and high-quality financial reporting while driving process improvement and exceptional client experiences.

Job Description

What You’ll Do

  • Perform core financial accounting activities including AP/AR processing, bank reconciliations, journal entries, and payroll administration.

  • Prepare accurate month-end reporting, including balance sheet reconciliations, P&L analysis, supporting schedules, and variance reviews.

  • Manage compliance obligations such as BAS, FBT, GST, PAYG, superannuation and payroll tax across applicable jurisdictions.

  • Support year-end processes including financial statement preparation, audit deliverables, working papers, and data integrity checks.

  • Enhance processes and internal controls, contributing to documentation updates, continuous improvement initiatives, and streamlined workflows.

  • Assist with financial systems (e.g., Xero) including configuration, maintenance, and development of standardised reporting templates.

  • Apply automation and efficiency principles to improve turnaround times and reporting accuracy.

  • Act as a trusted client contact, responding proactively to queries and building strong knowledge of each client’s operations.

  • Collaborate with CFO Advisory colleagues and cross-functional teams to ensure cohesive delivery and a consistently high client experience.

  • Demonstrate commercial awareness when managing expectations, timelines, and deliverables.

Desired Skills and Experience

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Commerce, or related discipline (essential).

  • Progressing towards CA or CPA (or recently commenced).

  • 2+ years’ experience in financial accounting, ideally within professional services, outsourced accounting, or CFO advisory.

  • Demonstrated experience using Xero or other cloud accounting platforms.

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and compliance requirements (BAS, FBT, GST, PAYG).

  • Intermediate–advanced Excel capability; exposure to automation or data tools is advantageous.

  • High attention to detail, strong communication skills, and a proactive, client-centric mindset.
