Job Description
About the Role
The role focuses on delivering accurate, timely and insight driven financial reporting and advisory services across Automic’s client portfolio. As a senior member of the Finance Practice, you’ll oversee the full accounting lifecycle — from operational finance to month end close and performance analysis — while driving process improvements and supporting advisory projects. You’ll also play a key role in developing the team and ensuring best practice financial outcomes for clients, whilst managing financial reporting and advisory services across Automic’s client portfolio. Key Responsibilities:
Deliver accurate month end, half year and year end accounts, reconciliations, and financial statements.
Oversee day-to-day accounting activities, payroll, and statutory compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
Prepare audit support and provide financial insights to highlight trends, risks, and opportunities.
Drive process and workflow improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Support optimisation of accounting systems and reporting tools.
Act as a trusted accounting partner, providing proactive support and commercial insights.
Deeply understand client operations to deliver tailored reporting and advice.
Contribute to CFO Advisory projects such as finance reviews, IPO readiness, and system enhancements.
Coach and develop junior team members, supporting technical growth and quality delivery.
Desired Skills and Experience
About you!
To be successful in this role, we are looking for someone to bring:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Commerce, or related discipline.
CA or CPA qualified (or near completion).
3+ years’ experience in financial accounting, ideally within professional services or outsourced finance environments.
Strong proficiency with cloud accounting platforms (e.g., Xero, MYOB, NetSuite) and advanced Excel skills.
Proven experience with month‑end/year‑end reporting, reconciliations, and statutory compliance (BAS, GST, FBT, PAYG).
Solid understanding of Australian accounting standards, tax, and payroll obligations.
Ability to manage multiple clients or entities and juggle competing priorities.
Experience with process improvement, automation, or system implementation projects.
Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills, with the ability to translate financial data for non‑financial stakeholders
