Job Description
About the role
We are looking for a Senior UI Engineer who cares as much about Developer Experience as they do about User Experience, and who understands that the way engineers build UI is changing quickly.
You will own the front-end architecture of our design system, building the component library that powers our entire product suite. This is not a job for someone writing one-off CSS. You are building the internal product that a team of developers relies on daily, and you will do it in a way that makes AI-assisted development work with the system, not around it.
What you'll be doing
Build and maintain reusable UI components using Angular
Implement design tokens as CSS variables and theming systems
Ensure parity between Figma designs, Storybook, and production code
Extend and customise Angular Material in a controlled, scalable way
Integrate AI-assisted development tools into your workflow in a way that is system-compliant and repeatable
Contribute to the team's agentic design system infrastructure, including authoring and maintaining agent skill files, context and constraint definitions, linting rules and MCP integrations.
Maintain Storybook as a living source of truth for UI components
Improve developer experience through clear APIs, sensible defaults, and good documentation
Reduce duplicated CSS and bespoke UI implementations
Partner closely with designers to validate feasibility and intent
Drive adoption by educating and supporting developers to self-serve within the system.

Developers reuse components instead of re-implementing UI
Visual regressions and redlining decrease over time
Design changes move through the system predictably
AI-assisted workflows are reliable, system-safe, and genuinely speed up delivery
UI quality is consistent regardless of who contributed it
Desired Skills and Experience
What we're looking for
Strong front-end engineering experience with Angular
Demonstrated experience using AI tools in a real development workflow, not just familiarity
Excellent CSS skills (layout, theming, modern best practices)
Experience building or maintaining component libraries
Familiarity with or genuine interest in agentic and code-first design system pipelines
Strong collaboration skills with designers
Pragmatic approach to abstraction and reuse
Attention to UI quality, accessibility, and maintainability
Good to have
Experience with design tokens and theming systems
Familiarity with Tokens Studio or similar token management tooling
Accessibility knowledge (WCAG)
Experience working on large or long-lived front-end codebases
Strong visual UI design skills with an understanding of colour, typography, hierarchy, and spacing
