About the Role 

As Manager, Custody Operations, you’ll play a key role in the day-to-day delivery and ongoing development of Automic’s custody capability. 

This role sits at the heart of operations, overseeing the end-to-end custody lifecycle (including trade matching, settlements, reconciliations, and corporate actions) while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strong controls. You’ll also contribute to the evolution of the function as it transitions from build phase into stable BAU, driving process improvement and scalability. 

Working closely with the Senior Manager, you’ll balance hands-on operational oversight, team leadership, and continuous improvement, helping to deliver high-quality outcomes for clients in a growing and evolving environment. 

Role Responsibilities: 

  • Oversee end-to-end custody operations across the trade lifecycle  

  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of settlements, reconciliations, pricing, and corporate actions  

  • Monitor workflows and proactively resolve processing issues  

  • Drive consistent SLA achievement and reduce settlement failures and breaks  

  • Allocate and manage daily workloads across the team  

  • Provide coaching, guidance, and performance oversight  

  • Support capability development and cross-skilling within the team  

  • Support the transition of custody operations into BAU  

  • Identify inefficiencies and reduce manual processes  

  • Contribute to automation and process improvement initiatives  

  • Monitor reconciliations and operational controls  

  • Investigate and resolve exceptions, breaks, and incidents  

  • Support audit, compliance, and control activities  

  • Support onboarding and transition of new clients into custody operations  

  • Ensure operational readiness and alignment of processes  

  • Act as an escalation point for operational and client issues  

  • Contribute to operational reporting (volumes, SLAs, exceptions, risk indicators)  

  • Monitor trends and highlight risks or performance issues  

 

Desired Skills and Experience

Skills and Experience 

  • Experience in custody or fund administration operations across the trade lifecycle  

  • Strong knowledge of settlements, reconciliations, corporate actions, and pricing  

  • Experience working in a high-volume operational processing environment  

  • Proven ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced setting  

  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving capability  

  • Experience supervising or mentoring team members (formal leadership advantageous)  

  • Strong stakeholder communication skills  

  • Experience with custody or fund administration systems  

  • Advanced Excel and data handling skills  

  • Exposure to process improvement, automation, or transformation initiatives (desirable)  

  • Tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting, Business or related discipline
